Alexander Stevenson is an artist, of English, Irish and Scottish descent. Together with experts and local communities, he explores themes of place and identity, contemporary and historical perspectives.

For two decades, Stevenson's artworks have drawn attention to the complicated relationships we have with the narratives of history, and to cultural stories about place, craft and technology.

A community-led approach to art allows him to learn new skills, create artworks and public events that are deeply influenced by the specific locations in which they are made, extending beyond the familiar, unveiling and responding to the unexpected narratives of the places we call home.

This exploration of locality runs throughout his artistic practice. Creating artworks engaging with local contexts across Europe. His work has been shown in galleries and festivals but also in unconventional public spaces such as remote Scottish Islands, forests on the borders of Czechia and abandoned film sets in the Spanish desert.
